Cornerstone

A Biblical Man

Event Recap

At Cornerstone, we had the joy of hearing Pastor Dave teach about what a biblical man looks like according to God’s standards and were encouraged to be godly women who build up the men in our lives and in the church.

Today, our understanding of masculinity has been distorted by the world. However, masculinity is not defined by our day’s cultural or societal norms, but rather according to the unchanging standard of God’s Word. God has a clear design for the roles He has created men to fulfill, and as women, we can appreciate and encourage men to fulfill these roles! First, they are made to be leaders who provide direction and model Christlikeness for others to follow (1 Corinthians 11:3). Second, they are to be responsible, as seen through how Adam represented and was held responsible for the fall of the entire human race into sin (Romans 5:12). God continues to hold a high expectation for men to be responsible for their leadership and what they have been given to steward. Third, God created men to be teachers as seen in the order of creation (1 Timothy 2:12-13). Adam was created first and given the authority to name all the animals, and then taught the animals to Eve after she was created (Genesis 2:19-20). In the same way, men have the high calling to continually teach others who God is through their lives. Fourth, men are called to protect women not just physically, but also spiritually. Adam was instructed not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil prior to Eve’s creation (Genesis 2:15-17). It was his duty to protect her by relaying God’s commands to her and being proactive not to put her in danger. Fifth, men have authority as seen through the leadership they are given over their households (Genesis 2:24).

Praise God that His design for biblical masculinity is clear! There is so much impact that we can have by being excited about biblical masculinity and supporting the men around us by not working against their leadership. Rather than seeking to control men with our emotions or thinking that we don’t need their protection, let us seek to be godly women who amplify a man’s desire to lead!

Event Testimonial

Here is what our sister, Vanessa, learned:

"I left the first Cornerstone event of the year feeling so thankful for God’s Word and His clear principles and standards! God’s Word is clear about His design and what characterizes godliness, masculinity, and leadership. I was encouraged by the truth that we want men in the church who realize that they are in a war, and that they want someone who they can fight with. As a single woman, I can be an inspiration to the men and really amplify their hunger for leadership. I want to be an encouragement by being focused on building my heart and character, not merely focusing on the external adornments, which then in turn can lead to an impact through my example and actions. I also want to grow in praying for the men in the body to continue to be zealous to grow in godliness and leadership!"
