Event Recap
At Clothing Exchange, our sister Kristen gave a devotional on the topic of “How to Dress Like a Princess of God.” As princesses of God, we have the duty to represent our King well in how we dress because He is worthy of the highest honor. We learned three principles to modesty: dressing representatively, dressing respectfully, and dressing reasonably.
In her first point, dressing representatively, we learned that modesty begins with a heart attitude of humility towards God which results in application in how we dress. Rather than wanting to draw attention to ourselves, we should desire to draw attention to God by dressing in a way that is honoring and glorifying to Him (1 Peter 3:3-4). Modesty is not a list of do’s and don’ts, but starts with having the right heart attitude.
In her second point on dressing respectfully, Kristen talked about how modest dress involves thoughtfulness and consideration of whether your dress is distracting to others. Some ways to apply this practically include praying for wisdom for what to wear and being proactive in examining your motives behind how you choose to dress.
Lastly, the third point about dressing reasonably involves dressing appropriately for different occasions and exercising good judgment. This includes practical considerations such as thinking ahead like wearing a shirt that will not fall forward if you will be bending down a lot that day. By dressing in a way that is tasteful and considerate, we can be of good repute and represent God well to others.
Afterwards, the women had a great time applying the devotional as they participated in the Clothing Exchange and got to try on and take home some new clothes! What a joy it is that as Christians, we have the opportunity to glorify God in our bodies through how we dress!

Event Testimonial
Here's what our sister, Christine D., learned:
"I learned from Kristen's devotional that deciding what to wear is more than the outward look of modesty. It stems from the humble attitude we have towards God, and our actions reflect that. I want to be more thoughtful and not dress lazily because that attitude stems from selfishness. One way is to avoid wearing sweatpants coming to church service just because I'm sleepy and it's more comfy. I can plan my outfits the night before. That way, not only am I awake, but I have a more respectful attitude, especially in coming to worship God. "
