Event Recap
The ladies had a wonderful time at Coastal Brunch and enjoyed a variety of delicious breakfast foods, spent time in fellowship with one another, and played beach-themed games. We competed in teams to name as many items in a category while bouncing a beach ball and also made messages in a bottle containing our summer goals.
At the event, Veonna shared a testimonial on the joys of marriage, specifically how her and her husband have been able to grow in unity as a couple such as through evangelism to a family member. By serving others together, they are able to rejoice all the more in God’s design for marriage!
Then, our sister Kristen gave a short lesson on the topic “True Greatness.” Unlike the world who sees greatness as self-serving, Christians are called to be imitators of Christ by being a servant to others (Mark 10:45). True greatness comes from imitating the humility of Christ, which begins with exalting God in our lives and seeking and submitting to His will (Romans 12:1)! One way we can do this practically is by elevating others’ needs above our own just as Christ did when He poured out His life for us on the cross (Philippians 2:6-8). For example, rather than orienting ministry around completing tasks, ministry ought to be centered around caring for others and building them up spiritually. Furthermore, it should be a joy to put others’ needs before our own! Humility should result in an excitement to sacrifice and expend ourselves because God sees caring for others spiritually as valuable (Philippians 2:2-4)! With Christ as our great example of joyful and sacrificial service, let us grow in our humility by seeing service to others as the privilege that it is!
Coastal Brunch was such a blast and we look forward to seeing you at our next summer event!

Event Testimonial
Here's what our sister, Janitzia, learned:
"It was so fun to attend the Coastal Brunch for this year's women summer events! The lesson that Kristen taught about "True Greatness" showed me that I was seeing 'greatness' with a worldly view, as having power over others. But it was refreshing to hear that true greatness is defined by Christ himself! How He served one another in humility, and how He sacrificed His life for us (Mark 10:41-45). Some ways that Christ showed this humility was by living to exalt the Father, elevating other's needs above His own, and expending Himself in service for others. As opposite from the world, we are called to live a selfless life by walking in humility to serve others, as it says in Ephesians 2:2-4. One way I want to apply this lesson is to seek and submit to God's will, even when I have to put other's needs over mine. Not doing this with a prideful and complaining heart, but to do it out of love and humility, as we see in Philippians 2:2-4."
