DIY Paper Flowers

Event Recap

To wrap up our summer 2024 events, we had a fun time learning from God’s Word, hearing an encouraging testimonial, and spending time in fellowship at DIY Paper Flowers! We also were able to express thoughtfulness as we gave one another written encouragements and paper flower bouquets that we made during the event!

To begin the event, Christine D. gave a testimonial about what she has been learning during our College and Young Singles Ministry’s summer small groups. She shared about how learning about contentment and prayer in small group helped her to keep her eyes fixed on God and how He was at work in the midst of career changes.

Afterwards, our sister Hannah E. taught a short lesson about how we can have humility in our relationships with others titled “Pulling out the Log” from Matthew 7:1-5. First, she encouraged us to consider God’s impartiality in that He holds every person to His standards. When we judge others by a standard that is not God’s, we pridefully attempt to usurp God’s authority. In practice, this can lead us to have partiality within the church due to personal preferences. However, our pride ultimately prevents us from seeing our own sin and prevents us from being effective. We should consider God’s grace in our relationships and choose to see people the way that God sees people, which means that we will assume the best of them because we have godly expectations for them (1 Corinthians 13:7). Lastly, we can remember God’s beloved: rather than allowing pride to fester, let us be quick to take it out of ours and others’ lives because God treasures the sanctification of the church.

DIY Paper Flowers was a great time of crafting and reflecting on how we can grow in cultivating humility in our lives! We hope that you will join us for our Women of Gold, Cornerstone, and Designed for Beauty events this upcoming school year!

Event Testimonial

Here's what our sister, Grace, learned:

DIY Paper Flowers was so much fun! Not only did I get to learn how to make cute paper flowers, but I also was greatly encouraged by the lesson, “Pulling out the Log”! One of my takeaways is to be confident in God’s grace. This means that when I see fellow believers make unwise choices or commit sin, my first response should be to remember God is kind and powerful to save and sanctify me, and He is also sure to work in their lives as well! When I think critically of them or despair in my heart, I’m not displaying the grace of God. Additionally, when I or others are discouraged about sin, I can always point back to His grace: God is kind and patient to continue growing us and to not give up on us
