Event Recap
The Great Gingerbread House Showdown was a great time of fun and fellowship! We heard a testimonial on "The Joys of Motherhood," a devotional on "The Blessing of Being Redeemed and Forgiven," and had a friendly competition of building summer gingerbread houses!
We first heard a testimonial from Sabrina W. about the joys of motherhood and the personal joys she has had raising her daughters. She has shared that motherhood is not without challenges, but she is able to learn how to depend and trust in God more which is a joy! She encouraged us with a super practical application to memorize a Psalm so that in our times of need we are always armed with the Word of God!
Next, Alyssa gave a devotional on "The Blessing of Being Redeemed and Forgiven" from Ephesians 1:7-8 where she shared about how we have been redeemed by the blood of Christ for eternity and forgiven from the eternal weight of sin. Now we can live with hope in our daily lives and sing praises to God for the redemption that is evident in our salvation. Alyssa encouraged us to apply this devotional by praising God, confessing sin quickly, forgiving others, and living in light of our hope in salvation!
Lastly, we broke off into teams and spent some time brainstorming team names and building gingerbread houses! We had judges and awards for the best gingerbread houses in four categories: most aesthetic, most realistic, most creative, and audience award. It was great to see everyone's creativity, teamwork, and joy!
