Event Recap
To start off our summer events for 2024, Kainos Summer Tea was a great time of refreshment! The women enjoyed fellowship over teas and a delectable assortment of tea-time snacks! Then we had the joy of hearing a testimonial from our sister, Julia, on our Women’s Fellowship series, “Faith: Heart and Eyes Fixed on God.” To grow in her faith, Julia has been meditating on God’s promises like James 1:17 and has seen how that has brought her comfort in uncertain circumstances. She has been able to grow in the trust in the Lord and go through them with joy as she holds fast to His promises.
In addition, Mia gave a short lesson on the topic “Contrition Brings Blessing.” Contrary to the world’s understanding of humility, biblical humility is to follow the example of Christ in submission to the Father (Acts 11:26, Philippians 2:5-8). What hinders us from exalting God and being humble is pride and worship of self. The different ways we can be prideful are through selfishness, seeing serving as a burden, and jealousy towards others. Instead, we can have a heart of humility by loving God and His church, serving Him with thankfulness, and rejoicing with others.
She defined humility as seeing your worth and position accurately before God; a lowliness of heart that produces sacrifice for the sake of others and denies self to exalt God in all areas of life. To show us what humility looks like, Mia used the Bible story of the Pharisee, who was prideful, and tax collector, who was contrite and repentant (Luke 18:9-14). When we are broken over our sin, we put ourselves in a position to receive God’s mercy and see how He is working through us which demonstrates a humble heart!
Afterwards, we enjoyed some fun tea-themed activities! In groups, we created hand fans for one another and wrote an encouragement note on them. Lastly, we learned some tea-time etiquette through a fun skit from Julia and Jann. Kainos Summer Tea was so much fun, and we hope to see you at our next summer event!

Event Testimonial
Here is what our sister, Andrea, learned:
"I had such a delightful time at Kainos Summer Tea! Our sister, Mia, shared on what true humility looks like which is having a right view of yourself before God. She also touched upon subtle ways we can show pride in light of the standard of true humility. Oftentimes my view of myself is in comparison to other people or focused on what others think of me rather than thinking about God. Instead I can be praying for God’s will to be done in my life and in other people’s lives!"
