At Perfect Helpmate, we learned from Judy about our God-given role as helpers and how to cultivate the heart attitude of a helper!
In her lesson, Judy talked about how woman was created to complement man by being a helper, as God saw that it was not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18). As a result, we can find fulfillment and joy in being a helper because that is God’s will for us as women! Then, Judy taught us the heart attitudes of a helper. A helper is characterized by humility and is willing to be used in whatever capacity God calls her to. Additionally, she is dependable, and others can rely on her to be trustworthy and excellent (Proverbs 31:11). She is also sacrificial and is willing to sacrifice her own comfort and interests for others (Proverbs 31:15). Furthermore, a helper is tender and shows love and care to those around her. Lastly, she is joyful; she does not complain but sees her role as a helper as honorable and makes it easy for others to lead her (Proverbs 31:12). Judy concluded by encouraging us to grow in being a helper by making small, consistent changes every day!
Afterwards, we had a practical training taught by Jessica on how to give thoughtful gifts as a way of worshipping God and pointing others back to Him! We learned helpful tips such as thinking about the occasion for the gift and personalizing the gift for its recipient.
Let us think actively about how we can grow in our humility, joy, and selflessness towards others so that we can fulfill our roles as helpers!
