How to Pay for Parking at UCSD

There are two parking options available for UCSD events: the Community Parking Permit (CPP) and the Visitor (V) Parking Permit. The best option depends on how frequently you attend events and whether you are a UCSD alumnus.

Option 1: Community Parking Permit (CPP)
  • Cost: $30
  • Validity: 30 consecutive days from the permit's start date
  • Purchase: Can be purchased in advance through the UCSD Parking Portal. An account is required.
  • Where and when you can park:
Parking Space Weekdays Weekends
S Spaces 3 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. All day
B Spaces 4 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. All day
A Spaces (Not valid in A spaces marked "A permit required 24 hours a day/7 days a week.") 4 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. All day

Option 2: Visitor (V) Parking Permit
  • Cost: $2.25/hour, up to $9/day
  • UCSD Alumni Discount: 50% off main campus visitor parking when purchasing through the ParkMobile app with the email address where you receive UCSD alumni communications. 
  • Validity: For the number of hours purchased
  • Purchase: On the day of the event through the ParkMobile app or at a pay station in the parking structure.
  • Where and when you can park:

V Spaces 24 hours All day
S Spaces 4 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. All day
B Spaces 4 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. All day

Your most cost-effective option depends on how many events held on the UCSD campus you plan to attend within a 30-day period.

Visitor Parking Permit (purchased daily) Best for fewer than 7 events Best for fewer than 4 events
Additional Info:
  • These recommendations assume you pay the daily visitor parking maximum for each event. Costs may be lower for shorter events.
  • Whoop-De-Doo counts as 3 events for parking purposes because parking must be paid for each day of the conference.
  • The Community Parking Permit covers 30 consecutive days, so plan your start date accordingly.

  • Carpooling is highly encouraged!
