At our first lesson on this year’s theme “God’s Design for Women,” we had the joy of learning how God has perfectly and uniquely designed us as women!
To begin, Judy gave a testimonial on the joys of motherhood and shared how, as a new mother, she has been learning to trust the Lord in the midst of uncertainty with her child’s sleeping and eating habits.
Then, Michelle taught the lesson on “Uniquely Designed” and presented three important truths about God’s design for women. First, God’s design for women is good. God specifically created woman to fulfill man’s needs for companionship and a helper because He saw that it was not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18). Second, God’s design for women is different. Women and men complement each other, and our role of supporting men is an honorable and humble position (1 Corinthians 11:7-9). However, it doesn’t make us any less than men—both men and women are created in the image of God and have equal worth (Genesis 1:27)! Third, God’s design for women is divine. God is the one who designed us, and when we rebel against our design, there are severe consequences. In Genesis 3, Adam and Eve’s failures to follow God’s design resulted in the fall. As a result, we should take our roles seriously and give thoughtful consideration to them.
After the lesson, Kayleen gave a practical training and taught us potluck principles such as arriving to the potluck on time, bringing your own equipment to serve the dish with, and portioning your dish for easy serving.
We had a great time learning to joyfully embrace our roles as women and praising God for how He has made us! Hope to see you at our next event!
