Women of Gold

God-Given Purpose

Event Recap

At our first Women of Gold event in our new theme “Women of Impact,” Jenn taught a lesson titled “God-Given Purpose.” As Christians, our purpose in life is to glorify God (1 Corinthians 10:31) but many women have lost sight of their purpose, resulting in aimlessness. However, we can live out our purpose now no matter how difficult because God is with us (Hebrews 13:5). Through the book of Esther, we see the example of a godly woman who lived with her purpose in mind.

First, Esther’s commitment to her purpose was not dependent on her comfort. Though brought into a foreign environment to serve a pagan king, she trusted in God alone and sought to please Him in the circumstances He had given her (Esther 2:13-16). Second, Esther’s faith was not dependent on her circumstances. In Mordecai’s exhortation to Esther, he reminded her of God’s sovereignty: life is not about us, but about what God is choosing to accomplish. God’s purpose does not change. He will accomplish His purpose, and we can either choose to be part of what God is doing through faith, or choose to be insignificant (Esther 4:13-14). Third, Esther persevered in fulfilling her purpose regardless of how long it took. Her ministry did not stop at protecting her people, but she continued to serve the king even after they were spared (Esther 8-10). What a joy it is that we can be of impact for the Lord now by simply being willing to sacrifice for God and to be used by Him!

Afterward, Judy taught a practical training to help us apply living with our purpose in mind by having a growth game plan! A growth game plan helps us set specific, realistic, and ambitious goals for our spiritual growth. We learned the importance of consistency in following our plan, have regular progress checks, and have accountability by sharing our plan with other sisters. Women of Gold was a refreshing time of learning from God’s Word about how we can pursue our God-given purpose in our day-to-day lives! We hope to see you at our next event, “Ambition”!

Event Testimonial

Here is what our sister, Lisa, learned:

"Women of Gold: God-Given Purpose was so timely! Jenn’s lesson on our purpose was simplified into one phrase: to glorify God! My commitment to this purpose can easily be discouraged by the circumstances that I’m in. However, I want to ensure that I am either changing the circumstance to bring glory to God or, if the circumstance cannot be changed, to still have a heart attitude of prayer and thanksgiving! That is living out my purpose of bringing God glory in every aspect! Just as Esther was not discouraged by her circumstances, there is no need for me to be discouraged by mine, but to live out and persevere in the purpose that God has given to me which leads to a joyful life! In addition to this wonderful lesson, there was another aspect of the morning: our practical training! It was on how to make a growth plan and it made me excited to apply the principles I had just learned in the lesson to use my life to the max, for the Lord and His glory!”
